Can Online Coaching Work for Me?

Have you ever wanted to work with a trainer but perhaps your schedules or geography make it difficult? Do you prefer to workout at home or don't really care for the trainers at your gym?

Are you afraid of trainers like this?

Just kidding, this is actually one of my favorite workout-related clips ever. :)

In our digital age, you might want to give virtual training a try!

What is virtual training?

Virtual training can take several different forms, and it can, in some instances depending on geography, be used as a form of hybrid training.

In either case, I will have you complete a very detailed client profile and health history form to get to know all about you, your goals and any medical/health issues of which I should be aware. I will set up phone time to go over this form with you and flesh out any missing pieces, answer questions we both have, and then start to construct a plan in my mind for what will work best for you.

In the case of strict virtual training (vs. hybrid) I will create a plan for you based on your available equipment (whether at home or gym). I do tend to recommend this option more if you have experience training already and just need some guidance about setting up a program for your particular goal and assistance in staying accountable.

If we are geographically close enough and you need a bit more guidance as far as form and exercises are concerned, we can create a hybrid program whereby I will come out and teach you the new program. (If you train at a gym, this is something that we have to clear there first.)

Virtual Check-Ins Keep You on Track!

In either case, virtual/hybrid training includes check-ins via FaceTime or Skype to make sure that you are staying on track with the training program, answer any questions you may have, and most importantly for most clients, discuss the biggest factor in your success - NUTRITION!

In your package, we will build in virtual check-ins via either FaceTime or Skype. If you are keeping a food log, which you will learn I HIGHLY recommend, I will have had you send me your food log in advance of your virtual check-in so I can do my homework and check out how your eating has been. We will then meet up online at a time that is convenient for both of us. The best part is, you can be comfy on your couch while we meet!

When we meet for about 30-45 minutes, we will discuss your food log (if applicable), questions you have about nutrition, training, or the program. Most importantly, we will create targeted action steps to take you through until our next check-in so you can work through struggles and continue to make progress. I can also help to clarify exercises by demonstrating for you and even having you demonstrate for me.

Will I just keep doing the same program?

Absolutely not! As my virtual or in-home clients can tell you, your program will change. For virtual clients, we will change your program up every 3-6 weeks depending on your goals, progress, and interest level (some people prefer the same routine for a longer period of time, while others prefer more frequent change). At that point, we will make sure you feel comfortable with the new program and, if doing hybrid, I will come teach the new program again at a time that works for us both.

Is virtual training affordable?

Yes! Virtual training is actually quite cost efficient! If once or twice weekly in-home training is cost- (or geography-/time-) prohibitive, virtual training is a great option! I will create a custom package just for you that will include your initial consultation, a customized program based on your goals and available time, as well as food log reviews (if applicable), and the number of virtual check-ins that will keep you on track.
